Calling all jazz enthusiasts!
Whether you play piano, saxophone, guitar, or any other instrument, this is your chance to explore jazz improvisation and ensemble playing in a fun, supportive environment.
Guided by our fabulous Jazz instructor, Mr. Joe, you’ll jam with others, experiment with jazz styles, and get valuable feedback to take your playing to the next level.
✨ Requires 2–3+ years of music experience
✨ Ideal for middle school/high school students and older
✨ Build confidence in improvisation and ensemble skills
Each session is divided into two parts: first, students will learn essential jazz concepts, scales, and chord progressions; then, they’ll put their knowledge into action through guided improvisation.
The class builds week by week, giving students the tools and confidence to play jazz with others. Along the way, students will:
Learn scales, intervals, triads, and chords as the foundation of jazz.
Explore common jazz progressions like the ii-V-I and blues form.
Gain hands-on experience improvising with real jazz tunes.
Practice group performance and listening skills in a supportive setting.
Receive personalized feedback to strengthen improvisation and technique.
By the end of the 8 weeks, students will have played through jazz standards, learned how to improvise over classic progressions, and gained the confidence to keep exploring jazz on their own.
