Jorge Sias is a classical and contemporary musician living in Berkeley, CA. He moved from Texas to the Bay Area in 2022 to pursue his dreams of developing his art and music in a way that brings the two realms together.

Jorge started studying the violin at age 10 and continued until the age of 16 when he began his studies with Andrew Small, a San Antonio Symphony member and former student of Itzhak Perlman. This became a pivotal time in Jorge’s life as a musician because he realized the violin was limiting his abilities due to its small size. Furthering his studies with Andrew for two years and ultimately shifting his focus to the viola, Sias decided to study with Emily Freudigman, the second violist of the San Antonio Symphony. He continued to study the viola for two more years until he moved to Austin to pursue his physics degree at the University of Texas. It was at this time that Sias started teaching his own students, namely privately enlisted violin and viola students looking to refresh their musical practice. 8 years later Jorge still continues to teach both privately and publicly at various schools across the Bay Area. Teaching is his passion and he wants to inspire and motivate younger generations to pursue music to the best of their abilities, emphasizing the individuality of each and every student.

Jorge Sias is currently focused on composing and performing on various instruments but specializes in piano improvisation and music-making techniques. Outside of his music practice, you will find him trail running, mountain biking, or just simply exploring the Bay Area mountains and nature. He also enjoys learning and speaking other languages and is fluent in English, Spanish, and German.
