While studying music in the US, Amanda was constantly moved by the love of music shown by her instructors. Having played piano since the age of 5 and having won and passed various competitions and examinations in Taiwan, including the Yamaha Grade Examination Grade 3, she was educated and therefore familiar with the “Asian Sparta Style training”. However, after moving to the States in 2007, Amanda realized the most effective musical training is simply encouragement as well as the enjoyment of music.

While pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, Amanda was fascinated by world music and she later received the Michael Segrove Avalos Award by competing in the competition for Hispanic music.

Shortly after she received her Master's degree in Piano Performance in 2016, Amanda decided to expand her teaching approach by incorporating the Suzuki Method.

In 2017, Amanda was invited back to San Francisco State University as a lecturer to teach basic piano courses and she has gained an invaluable amount of experience and joy through teaching piano in a classroom setting to adult students.

Being a local musician in California, Amanda is familiar with various examinations such as Certificate of Merit and ABRSM. She has been a member of the Music Teacher’s Association of California since 2012.

From 2019 to 2020, she was appointed as the chair of the San Francisco Branch and currently serves as the president of the San Mateo Branch.

Amanda believes “learning the basics with positive energy and encouragement” are the keys to success and she uses each and every lesson to unlock the endless possibilities for her students.
