She welcomes students of beginning to intermediate levels who want to further their understanding and passion for music, no matter their age.
Jennifer began taking piano lessons at age five, then later discovered her love for modern singing and songwriting in addition to classical music. She completed the ABRSM Grade 8 exam on her fifteenth birthday, began teaching students the following year, then continued to teach all throughout high school and college.
After enrolling as a Psychology major at the University of California, Davis, Jennifer decided to further advance her musical skill and repertoire. During her second year, she began to double major in Music (with an emphasis in Piano Performance) under Marilyn Swan’s guidance and graduated in 2020 with Honors in both degrees. She won the Toshinao Kanno Prize for Outstanding Graduating Piano Performance in 2019 and was awarded the Edward & Patricia Gammel Endowed Scholarship in 2020.
Recently, Jennifer has been releasing R&B/Pop music on Spotify, Youtube, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms as a Chinese-American singer-songwriter. She attributes much of her modern music success to her strong foundations in classical music.
Jennifer has been teaching piano and music theory for years. She is patient, caring, and thoughtful, and she loves working with anyone who brings an open heart and an eager learning attitude.
Her teaching philosophy emphasizes understanding the technical basics of music to ensure long-term success. She structures her teaching style around the student’s needs and values the importance of maintaining a safe, welcoming learning environment.
Ms. Jennifer is fluent in English and Mandarin, and conversational in Cantonese.
