is a piano instructor and musician born and raised in San Francisco, California. She has been teaching for over ten years and welcomes students from beginning to intermediate levels who want to further their understanding and passion for music.
Jennifer’s musical journey began at the age of five, studying with instructors from Beijing and Hong Kong, with her final teacher being a graduate of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. After completing the practical exams administered by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), she continued to learn and play all throughout her teenage years.
After initially enrolling as a Psychology major at the University of California, Davis, Jennifer decided to further advance her musical skill and repertoire by including a second major in Music, with a concentration on Classical Piano Performance. She studied under Marilyn Swan, a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, and graduated with honors in both fields while also completing a minor in Chinese. Jennifer was recognized with several music awards, including the Toshinao Kanno Prize for Outstanding Graduating Piano Performance and the Edward & Patricia Gammel Endowed Scholarship.
Jennifer’s teaching approach emphasizes developing strong foundations as the basis for musical expression and growth. She is patient, caring, and thoughtful, and she loves working with anyone who brings an open heart and an eager learning attitude.
Ms. Jennifer is fluent in English and Mandarin, and conversational in Cantonese.
